Join Jewish dance specialist and choreographer Bruce Bierman for a unique monthly workshop that aims to free the Jewish dancer within! It will begin with guided poses and stretches inspired by the angular shapes of the Hebrew letters. Then, participants will explore the expressive movements and dramatic gestures behind the four main Jewish dance genres: Yemenite, Hasidic, Klezmer and Israeli. Finally, fit the moves of the ancestors to the grooves of your own imagination, as
participants create spontaneous new dances using a treasure box of Jewish dance vocabulary. All levels and dance experiences welcome. $10-$15, sliding scale. Presented by the JCC KlezCalifornia, and Jewish Music Festival. More info: 510.848.0237
