Saturday, March 9, 8:00pm, Warsaw Ghetto Uprising Memorial Concert: Vilna Poems and Akoka - The End of Time. At the Berkeley Repertory Theater. World premiere of Vilna Poems, a song cycle of works by Yiddish poet Avrom Sutskever, composed by David Garner. Tickets: $26 general, $24, JCC East Bay members, seniors, students. 

Sunday, March 10, 2:00-5:00pm, An-Ski Expedition at 100. Panel discussion with Gabriella Safran and Nathaniel Deutsch, and performance by Michael Alpert. This event commemorates the one hundredth anniversary of the An-ski Folklore Expedition, which collected thousands of Yiddish songs, stories, artifacts and folklore from shtetlakh, intended for a Jewish national museum in pre-revolutionary St. Petersburg. At the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley. No charge. 
 
Tuesday, March 12, 5:30pm, History of American Jewish Music, a talk by Mark Slobin. Presented by (and at) The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life, Berkeley. No charge. 

Tuesday, March 12, 7:30pm, A Sweet Diaspora Song: Paths of Jewish Music in America, a  performance by Michael Alpert in conversation with Francesco Spagnolo. Presented by (and at) The Magnes, Berkeley. No charge.

Thursday, March 14, 7:00pm, Daniel Kahn & the Painted Bird's "Bad Old Songs" Album Release Concert, plus Conspiracy of Beards. At the JCC East Bay, Berkeley. Tickets: $15.
